I smell a potential lawsuit! Rapper and sometimes-actress Cardi B was set to star in the raunchy comedy Assisted Living but, with production set to start in a matter of days, the WAP singer has dropped out of the film entirely.

Deadline reports that those involved with the film will be on indefinite hold which means her actions have put hundreds of members of the cast and crew out of work. The reported reasoning for Cardi B vacating the project is because she is being “overextended.” I suppose that’s code for she’s too busy but you can’t just bail on a $30 million production just days before work was set to begin. It wasn’t like the film wasn’t on her calendar for some time now as a job she was expected to get started and complete.

Assisted Living was to be directed by Thembi Banks and it followed a small-time crook named Amber (Cardi B) who must go on the run after a heist goes wrong. The job leaves her accused of a crime she didn’t commit so she must escape the cops and her former crew by disguising herself as an elderly lady and hiding out in her estranged grandmother’s assisted living facility. Think Sister Act with a dash of Mrs. Doubtfire.

Cardi B previously had a small but scene-stealing role as a stripper in the Jennifer Lopez-led hit film, Hustlers. She followed that up with a brief cameo in Fast 9, the latest installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise which is said to lead to a bigger role in the next film. As for departing Assisted Living, Deadline reports that she left so late in the game that it’s possible she will face some kind of legal ramifications for her actions.

Do YOU think Cardi B should answer for leaving Assisted Living within days of production?
