The story tells the tangled yarn of an ambitious con man who partners up with a female psychiatrist for a mentalist routine, but she eventually turns the tables on him.

In addition to penning the script for NIGHTMARE ALLEY alongside Kim Morgan, del Toro will also produce with J. Miles Dale. Del Toro and Dale will also finance the film, with TSG Entertainment.

According to sources, Blanchett is exepcted play the psychologist who may of may not be trustworthy despite making a promise to Cooper's character.
