Gale Anne Hurd, producer on AMC’s hit zombie series “The Walking Dead,” will oversee a new horror movie for CBS Films called HELLFEST. The script comes from William Penick and Chris Sey (SECRETS IN THE WALLS), based on a concept from Valhalla Motion Pictures exec-producer Ben Roberts. Valhalla, Hurd’s production banner, is where HELLFEST will be set up.

According to Deadline, HELLFEST is about what happens at a Halloween theme park when one of the costumed characters is actually killing the patrons who think it’s all part of the show.

Sounds like a damn good time to me. “The Walking Dead,” while waning in quality with each passing episode, was definitely cool enough for me to keep an eye on this Hurd lady and whatever she does in our beloved genre. HELLFEST sounds like the perfect counterbalance to that other, kiddy Halloween pic FUN SIZE. Would you agree?

More on HELLFEST as we scare it…
