We currently don’t know a whole lot about WHITE HOUSE DOWN beyond how it 1) will be directed by Roland Emmerich, 2) was scripted by James Vanderbilt (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, ZODIAC), and 3) was just given the release date of November 1st, 2013.

Well today that knowledge is expanded (even if only slightly) with the news that Channing Tatum is in talks for a role in what is being described as a “DIE HARD in the White House scenario, focusing on a paramilitary takeover of the White House.”  Channing would reportedly play a Secret Service agent, which is about as stunning as the lyric “the heat was hot” from America’s hit “The Horse With No Name.”  Tatum can do this role in his sleep, and I would have been infinitely more interested in this project has he signed on for a villain role.  I’d say he’s been stretching his comfort zone a bit of late, and this would have been a very cool way to do so even more.  Ah well.  Another time, I guess.

Or perhaps it’ll even happen as soon as with JUPITER ASCENDING, an upcoming project from Wachowski Siblings in which he is expected to star alongisde Mila Kunis that has plans to begin production some time this year.

Something ascends every time I see Mila Kunis, that’s for sure.
