Character details on the team members of TNT’s DC Comics series The Titans

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

With comic book series continuing to find success on television, TNT’s live action adaptation of DC’s Teen Titans continues to move forward and now we have learned which characters will populate the super hero squad. Titled THE TITANS, TNT’s series will feature characters familiar to fans of the comic series but with some changes.

Nerdist learned of the characters via recent casting calls for the show. The auditions will be for Nightwing, Batgirl, Hawk, Dove, Raven, and Starfire. Interestingly, Nightwing will still be Robin on the series and working as a detective in Boston after parting ways with Batman. Barbara Gordon will now be Oracle, confined to a wheelchair, and references to her past as Batgirl will be made.

The cast of characters feel similar to prior incarnations of the team minus Beast Boy and Cyborg, two characters on the current TEEN TITANS GO series on Cartoon Network. Cyborg will play a major role in the upcoming JUSTICE LEAGUE movie which may explain his absence here. But, the showrunners could also be leaving room for changes to the team in later episodes and seasons.

THE TITANS would be the first team superhero series on television which could be an interesting dynamic compared to ARROW, THE FLASH, GOTHAM, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. or AGENT CARTER. TNT has showcased some high production values on their original series in recent years, so there could be hope for this show yet.

THE TITANS currently has no premiere date.
