Charisma Carpenter to get scared off by a Mail Order Monster

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Charisma Carpenter

Charisma Carpenter found herself in the vicinity of plenty of creatures during her time playing Cordelia Chase on the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel, and she shared the screen with some beasts of another sort in the throwback action flick THE EXPENDABLES. The actress is now set to be menaced by a monster once again, having signed on to star in the family-friendly genre film MAIL ORDER MONSTER.

Carpenter will be co-starring with Madison Horcher and Josh Hopkins in the film, which is being directed by Paulina Lagudi.

Lagudi co-wrote the screenplay with Marc Prey, crafting the story of

12-year-old Sam Pepper, who lost her mother in a car accident and has a reclusive, quirky nature that makes her an easy target for bullying. Realizing she’s had enough, Sam orders the parts to build a “Monster” from a comic book ad, and is finally able to get back at the bully. When Sam discovers her father Roy proposed to his girlfriend Sydney, she relies on her monster to keep her from getting a new mom.

Being aimed at kids, this probably won't have much in the way of scares or actual horror, but it will be interesting to see what this comic book ad mail order monster (some assembly required) will look like, and maybe MAIL ORDER MONSTER can join the ranks of kid-friendly genre classics. We can only wait to find out.

Produced by Lagudi and Robert Ulrich, MAIL ORDER MONSTER is scheduled to start filming in Kentucky next month.
