Check out a teaser poster and footage for David Fincher’s Gone Girl

Director David Fincher's next film, GONE GIRL, is set to debut a new trailer later today and in anticipation of that we have a first look at the teaser poster and a trailer tease. Starring Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit, Scoot McNairy, Missi Pyle, Casey Wilson, Emily Ratajkowski, and Neil Patrick Harris, the upcoming thriller is based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn, which promises a lot of twists and turns, including a new ending that deviates from the source (and is actually crafted by Flynn). The poster is the kind of tease you'd expect from Fincher, who is no stranger to changing it up a bit with the marketing for his films. The teaser footage is compelling enough and, if nothing else, shows that we may well have a really intriguing performance from Affleck on the way.

Here's the synopsis:

Directed by David Fincher and based upon the global bestseller by Gillian Flynn – unearths the secrets at the heart of a modern marriage. On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick's portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior has everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?

I haven't ready the book by Flynn and am hesitant to do so after hearing that they are changing the ending. While I can enjoy a good read regardless of it's cinematic adaptation, the incentive to read it really only exists as a means of knowning more about the film, so I'll be happy to just let the surprises hit me naturally with GONE GIRL. Mostly, I'm excited to see this for Fincher's involvement and even more interested to see what he does with Affleck. Fincher is known for pulling out some great performances from his actors and I expect no less with this. Here's to hoping for a cool, fun, and dark thriller for the fall…

GONE GIRL hits theaters on October 3, 2014.
