Darren Aronofsky is a brilliant filmmaker and NOAH is undoubtedly going to be something special to see. Despite all of the controversy between the studio, Aronofsky, and religious groups about the content of the film, the final product will be a piece of art that can be interpreted any number of ways. Keeping that in mind, the official website for NOAH has launched an art gallery where users can create and upload their original pieces inspired by the Noah story using the hashtag #NoahArtShow. Those pieces will be displayed on the website alongside works by well known artists such as Jim Lee, Erik Parker, and James Jean.
There is currently a gallery of the pieces on display in New York City at 462 West Broadway. The show also includes a statement from Aronofsky regarding the artistic merit and background not only for the gallery show but also the film itself. While I never thought a disclaimer like this was needed, it definitely adds a nice layer to what his intention was behind making NOAH.
The show runs through Saturday, March 29, 2014 and some of the pieces are quite amazing. You can check out a selection of them below and then head over to the official site to see more and submit your own.
