Check out the creepy trailer and poster for horror flick Sinister starring Ethan Hawke

The new trailer for SINISTER, starring Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Juliet Rylance, and James Ransone premiered today, featuring some genuinely creepy stuff.  The pic was direccted by Scott Derrickson (THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE).

Now, as horror films go, there are certain conventions that we come to expect (just like any genre, really) and SINISTER seems to deliver on quite a few of them.  Thankfully, it looks as if the filmmakers pulled it off for the most part as the film looks pretty damn good and creepy as hell.

Cover your eyes for the scary parts:

I think the big draw here is seeing Ethan Hawke in a role like this.  The guy can act and I think his presence will bring some clout to the film, not to mention the creepy ass masked creature sprinkled throughout the trailer.  This isn’t the most original concept I’ve ever seen, but damned if it doesn’t look like some jumpy fun.

Synopsis:

Found footage helps a true-crime novelist realize how and why a family was murdered in his new home, though his discoveries put his entire family in the path of a supernatural entity.

SINISTER opens appropriately on October 5, 2012.
