There is only one thing about THE WALKING DEAD finale that has me happy: the very next Sunday will be the two hour premiere of MAD MEN’s sixth season! It feels like it has been forever since we last saw the denizens of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce and things have certainly changed in the interim.

AMC has begun airing a new promo titled “Affair” that features still images of all of the main cast members. Prominently figuring into the clip are Pete Campbell and his sideburns, showcasing a new era both in the 60s set drama as well as the world at large. Seeing the same old Don Draper, Roger Sterling, Peggy Olsen, and the rest of the gang looking a little older and wiser makes me wonder what kind of insane things will happen this season.

Per usual, we don’t know much about the upcoming set of episodes aside from the fact the SCDP crew will be visiting Hawaii and that Harry Crane goes full on Mod Squad as well. These photos seem to come from the same episode. There is also a brand new poster that evokes the era, and like prior season posters, likely holds clues as to what will happen to Don Draper over the course of the season. Obviously the two Don’s pictured (one gray suit, one black suit) holds some sort of hint. The dueling personalities theme has pervaded the entire series and will definitely come up again this year as Don contemplates his marriage to Megan (the gorgeous Jessica Pare), his past with Betty, and his past as Dick Whitman.

All I know is that between MAD MEN, BREAKING BAD, and THE WALKING DEAD, there is not much reason to change the channel from AMC. HELL ON WHEELS is a good show too and I was one of the few people who stuck with THE KILLING. Heck, even the cancelled RUBICON was a damn fine program.

MAD MEN begins it’s sixth season on April 7th.
