It may not be the live action STAR WARS series that we have been hearing about for so long, but STAR WARS: DETOURS looks like it will be a fun enhancement to a galaxy far, far away.

Conceived by Seth Green, DETOURS looks to be a spin on the STAR WARS specials his ROBOT CHICKEN series has become synonymous with. This time he has full run of the Lucasfilm resources to create what looks to be a pretty fun spin on the saga.

Plot: Star Wars Detours™ is an animated comedy that explores what daily life is like in a galaxy far, far away. There are no Empires striking back or attacking clones here. Instead, Star Wars Detours focuses on the universe’s regular folks and their everyday problems… which, to be fair, do frequently involve famous bounty hunters, crazed Ewoks, and even a Dark Lord of the Sith.

The Facebook page for the series has been up for a short while and already has 20,000 fans. There is no word on what channel the show will air, but there is a trailer and several clips posted for your enjoyment. Check them out below.

The super-deformed style of the characters makes me think that we will see the inevitable toys to go along with the series should it hit an actual network instead of social media/internet broadcasting. Either way, it is nice to see the STAR WARS universe branch out. It seems the more Lucas steps away from the franchise, the better it gets.
