Before the 2005 big-screen debut of Marvel’s FANTASTIC FOUR there was another version of the famed foursome from producer Roger Corman. Filmed in 1993-94 but never released to the public, Corman’s THE FANTASTIC FOUR was ripe with low-budget style and B-movie glitz, but would never see the light of day. Rumor was that producer Bernd Eichinger had only made the film in order to retain the rights (he would later serve as producer of the 2005 film). Now, there’s a documentary featuring the cast and crew of the ill-fated production, entitled DOOMED: THE UNTOLD STORY OF ROGER CORMAN’S “THE FANTASTIC FOUR” which takes a look at the history of the production and just what went down with final film.

Take a look:

If you’re fascinated with the behind-the-scenes of these kinds of things then this is for you. Personally, I’m intrigued as hell to hear the details on this, just as I am for THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN LIVES: WHAT REALLY HAPPENED? It’s kind of amazing to peel back the layers and see what could’ve been (or actually was) in films that almost happened. No release date is set for this just yet, but I’d expect some kind of release in 2014, likely on VOD. Can’t wait!

In the meantime, the next incarnation of FANTASTIC FOUR starts shooting this year for release on June 19, 2015.
