Chloe Moretz drowns us in more bad voiceover for new 5th Wave trailer

It can't be that hard to cut a trailer for young adult sci-fi that doesn't look as generic and by-the-book as what we've seen from THE 5TH WAVE thus far. THE HUNGER GAMES has done it. THE MAZE RUNNER has done it. DIVERGENT, to an extent, has done it. But Sony adaptation of Rick Yancey's book is failing pretty miserably at it.

It takes a certain kind of talent to have Chloe Moretz look like a big problem for your movie and not an asset.

But here we are again, after a bad first impression, with another poorly cut trailer that gives Moretz a laughably bad voiceover that makes nothing look important and everything look like a joke. If I didn't know any better, I'd think this was a parody of what someone thought a trailer for this subgenre might look like, if done horribly wrong. But there's no parody… just the horribly wrong part.

THE 5TH WAVE is coming on January 15, 2016.
