Back in January LET ME IN star Chloe Moretz spoke a bit about the remake. Well a couple months later and here we are again! Mortez recently spoke to Movieline about the LET THE RIGHT ONE IN remake and spilled some more details.
“The character of Abby…I mean, usually a lot of movies glamorize being a vampire. It’s pretty, it’s cool, you look awesome! The way we did it was that it’s not cool to be a vampire. It’s a burden that she has to carry with her, not this fun, cool, interesting thing. It’s scary, deep, and dark, this devil inside of her. The vampire is different than Abby. It’s like her alternate personality, and when it takes her over, she has no control. “

I mean sure, this flick is a horrible idea… but dare I say that actually sounds pretty cool? Then again you can’t really make a LET THE RIGHT ONE IN remake without dark, evil vampires can you? Actually we kind of already knew all this. So maybe Moretz is just stating the obvious here… Maybe she’s giving us a hint about the tone of the flick? Who really knows. Director Matt Reeves, that’s who.
Twelve-year old Owen is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Achingly lonely, Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his middle school tormentors and his evenings spying on the other inhabitants of his apartment complex. His only friend is his new neighbor Abby, an eerily self-possessed young girl who lives next door with her silent father. A frail, troubled child about Owens’s age, Abby emerges from her heavily curtained apartment only at night and always barefoot, seemingly immune to the bitter winter elements. Recognizing a fellow outcast, Owen opens up to her and before long, the two have formed a unique bond.
When a string of grisly murders puts the town on high alert, Abby’s father disappears, and the terrified girl is left to fend for herself. Still, she repeatedly rebuffs Owen’s efforts to help her and her increasingly bizarre behavior leads the imaginative Owen to suspect she’s hiding an unthinkable secret.
Along with Moretz LET ME IN also stars Kodi Smit-McPhee, Richard Jenkins, Elias Koteas, Sasha Barrese (below) and Elias Koteas. The flick hits theaters October 1st!
