It was the slap heard around the world and it has dominated the industry headlines since Will Smith stepped onto the Oscar stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock over a joke regarding his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. Will Smith has begun his apology tour while Jada Pinkett-Smith just posted an Instagram post about healing. Chris Rock hasn’t really spoken out since the incident occurred but his standup tour is benefitting from the free press as ticket sales for the event have begun to surge.

Chris Rock is getting ready to embark on a massive world tour next month called The “Ego Death World Tour”, which includes 38 shows at theaters across America. According to the ticket resale site TickPick, they have reportedly sold more tickets to see Chris Rock overnight than they did in the past month combined. They have also noted that resale ticket prices for sold-out performances have also skyrocketed. It would seem that people are hoping Rock will address the infamous slap during his standup and that curiosity has resulted in this recent spike in sales.

Chris Rock’s standup tour will also see the comedian return to where the incident took place. The tour is expected to end in November with two performances at the Dolby Theatre where the Oscars were held this year. The venue alone may guarantee that Rock brings up the altercation in some way.

Do YOU think Chris Rock’s standup tour will include material about the Will Smith slap, and will that make you want to grab tickets?
