Chucky season 2: Fiona Dourif will be back as Nica Pierce

The first season of Chucky, a TV series continuation of the Child’s Play franchise, ended with cliffhangers for most of our heroes – including Nica Pierce, the Curse of Chucky / Cult of Chucky heroine played by Fiona Dourif. And while we’ve previously heard that cast members Jennifer Tilly (as Tiffany Valentine), Zackary Arthur (as Jake Wheeler), Björgvin Arnarson (as Devon Evans), Alyvia Alyn Lind (as Lexy Cross), Alex Vincent (as Andy Barclay), Christine Elise (as Kyle), Barbara Alyn Woods (as Mayor Michelle Cross), and Brad Dourif (providing the voice of Chucky) will be back for Chucky season 2, Fiona Dourif wasn’t on that list. Thankfully, it has now been confirmed that Dourif will indeed be reprising the role of Nica Pierce in the new season.

Speaking with UPI, Fiona Dourif said,

I figured Nica would have a shot at revenge. I was hoping she would. I think Tiffany deserves a reckoning!”

A follow-up to all of the Child’s Play movies (remake excluded), Chucky picks up where Cult of Chucky left off. Don Mancini, who has written every Child’s Play film (except that remake) and directed a few of them, developed Chucky with producer David Kirschner. Mancini and Kirschner are executive producing Chucky with Harley Peyton, Alex Hedlund, and Nick Antosca. Mancini also directed the first episode. The show’s synopsis:

After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

Chucky, which aired on the NBCUniveral cable networks Syfy and USA, reached 11.6 million viewers across all platforms during the first season. Season 2 is currently filming and is expected to start airing sometime this fall.

In addition to the actors mentioned above, Chucky season 2 also includes Devon Sawa in its cast, despite the fact that the twin brothers he played in season 1 were both killed. Sawa has said that it feels like Mancini is going “even f*cking wilder” with season 2.
