“Sorry Jack, Chucky’s Back!” That line from the Child’s Play 2 trailer rings true in 2021 as the Chucky TV series has become a huge ratings winner for the USA Network and Syfy.

Combining the two cable channels, Chucky was seen by 4.4 million total viewers within its first week, per Nielsen, via The Wrap, and 2.1 million of those viewers came from the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demographic. For the USA Network, this represents their highest-rated series premiere in three years.

Chucky is also doing very well on YouTube where the premiere episode was made available for free in its entirety on both the USA and Syfy channels. Those two channels have combined for more than 3 million views to date. This is also good news for NBCUniversal because with Resident Alien and now Chucky, their Syfy, and USA Network cable channels have the two biggest launches among new cable series this year.

The Chucky TV series picks up after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a yard sale. The idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of murders begin to expose the town’s secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies, and allies, from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who became a notorious monster. The series brings back Brad Dourif as the voice of our favorite killer doll and Jennifer Tilly is back in the ranks as his girlfriend Tiffany. Rounding out the cast is Devon Sawa, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, Fiona Dourif, Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Bjorgvin Arnarson, and Alyvia Alyn Lind. On top of stellar ratings, Chucky also has solid reviews with a 96% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 91% audience score.
