Good news for fans of the Child’s Play / Chucky franchise who still like to own things on physical media: Universal has announced that they’ll be releasing season 1 of the Chucky TV series on Blu-ray on April 12th! You can get a look at the case art at the bottom of this article.

A follow-up to all of the Child’s Play movies (remake excluded), Chucky picks up where Cult of Chucky left off. Don Mancini, who has written every Child’s Play film (except that remake) and directed a few of them, developed Chucky with producer David Kirschner. Mancini and Kirschner executive produce Chucky with Harley Peyton, Alex Hedlund, and Nick Antosca. Mancini also directed the first episode. The show’s synopsis:

After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

The show stars Zackary Arthur, Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Devon Sawa, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, Bjorgvin Arnarson, Jacob Breedon, Lexa Doig, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Lind’s real-life mother Barbara Alyn Woods, and David Kohlsmith. And yes, Brad Dourif provided the voice of Chucky once again.

A second season of Chucky is officially in the works.

As you can see on the case art, Chucky season 1 is coming to Blu-ray with just two bonus features: deleted scenes and a featurette called The Legacy of Chucky, which has already been online for a while now. In fact, it’s even embedded below the case art in this article.
