Sorry, that gets me every time. I do think THE BEGUILED looks very intriguing, what with its attractive cast, lush visuals, and eerie vibe, but that moment at the end of the first trailer when Colin Farrell yelps his now-infamous line immediately pulls me out of the haunting atmosphere of the piece and into a giggling fit. Maybe I'm just immature.
The official one-sheet for the Sofia Coppola film has just been served up and is posted for your viewing pleasure below. Also for your pleasure: that trailer, with its melodramatic final line.
THE BEGUILED…
unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls’ boarding school. Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier. As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.
In addition to Farrell, the movie stars Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Oona Laurence, Angourie Rice, Addison Riecke and Emma Howard.
After having its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Focus Features will release THE BEGUILED in NY and LA June 23th before expanding to more theaters on June 30th.
