Thanks to the boys over at Dread Central for scoring this interview.

According to Jeffry Combs (aka Dr. Herbert West), there’s a possibility of three new sequels in store for the RE-ANIMATOR series!

In a phone conversation with DC, Combs revealed that while ‘there’s no “signing” going on right now, [Brian Yuzna and I] are certainly exploring the possibilities. Brian’s idea is to do three RE-ANIMATORS, yes, three, back to back. We’re developing some good story lines, but we’re just in the gestation period on this…I told Brian I didn’t want to wait another 20 years to do another one. I don’t want Herbert to be a geriatric.
Stuart [Gordon] could be involved on
one of them. Bruce Abbott as well.’

What’s really exciting about this is the last two lines. Stuart’s been interested in doing HOUSE OF RE-ANIMATOR (which would find Dr. West in the White House) for a few years now, so this may be one of the plots being tossed around. It’s a pretty gusty move nonetheless, since BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR was received with mixed opinons. We’ll keep our eyes and ears glued to this one for sure, as RE-ANIMATOR is one of the more underrated horror films I can think of. Check out the rest of the story here.
