Great googly moogly friends! SciFi Wire chatted with Stuart Gordon about his Season 2 entry in the MASTERS OF HORROR and he confirmed that Jeffrey Combs will play Edgar Allen Poe. F*ckin sweet!
The story will be based on Poe’s short story THE BLACK CAT, but will also wrap in autobiographical elements of Poe’s life. Should be pretty awesome since Poe was one messed up cat himself. Here’s a bit on what Gordon has planned:
[Poe] married his 13-year-old cousin. At a recital, she was singing, and a blood vessel burst in her throat, and blood came spurting out of her mouth. It turned out she had tuberculosis, and she went through a long illness, which made Poe drink even more heavily. So we’ve sort of mixed that story with ‘The Black Cat,’ which is a story about a guy who turns very nasty when he gets drunk and starts doing terrible things to the cat.
If you aren’t jumping for joy at the thought of that first visual, then do me a favor and don’t tell me. I wouldn’t know what to say to you.
