You guys remember that Hailee Steinfeld chick? She’s the 16 year old actress who made waves with The Coen Brothers’ TRUE GRIT. She was even nominated for an Oscar for that shite! Oh and she can be found directly to the right. Ringing any bells now?
Well according to Variety she’s got a pretty dark thriller on the way and I’ve decided to tell you all about it. Titled DEAD OF WINTER, this is actually a Black Listed script by scribe Sarah Conradt. Music video and commercials director Anthony Mandler will be helming this one for Dancer Prods, Hopscotch Pictures and Busted Shark. Peep the rundown:
Steinfeld is slated to play a teen who heads to a remote cabin in the mountains with her father and new stepmother — an experience he hopes will bring the two ladies closer together. When a dangerous fugitive posing as a park ranger shows up, the trio must put aside the family bonding to fight for survival.
Not too shabby, right? Wind Dancer’s Judd Payne, Matt Williams and David McFadzean will be producing alongside Hopscotch’s Sukee Chew and Busted Shark’s Sherryl Clark. Plans are to get DEAD OF WINTER rolling sometime in early 2013. As far as distribution goes apparently there are ongoing talks with Lionsgate regarding that.
I know there’s a lot of technical mumbo jumbo in there but it looks like there could be a pretty solid thriller in there somewhere, right? More news on DEAD OF WINTER should be rolling our way soon now that this thing has a director so we’ll keep our eyes peeled.
