Cool Video: THE Vampire Diaries video!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Listen, I don't like the Vampire Diaries (not to yuck anybody's yum, just never watched it or had any desire/need to). Hell, it's even debatable how "horror"-related it is, despite being about vampires, werewolves, witches, and…mermaids? But damn if YouTuber Jenny Nicholson's in-depth look into the entirety of the series isn't entertaining as hell!

At over two-and-a-half hours, it's admittedly a big commitment, but I think it's worth it. It's also warranted, as she goes through every aspect of the property – from its book origins, to the entire run of the CW show, to even the shitty 90s FMV game that predates it! She also makes great insights about the social ramifications of some of the show's more baffling decisions, but never let's that stop her from being funny and insightful throughout.

Now, of course, your mileage may vary on this type of content (I may be biased, because I enjoy media criticism and video essays, as I make a living producing them myself as well), but if you too enjoy this type of content, this is one of the better examples of it (her whole channel is pretty great though). Again, I never saw a frame of the show (and, to be quite honest, didn't remember it existed until she announced she was doing a video on it), but I was still hooked nonetheless!

So what do you guys think? Fans of the CW show? Either way, sound off below!
