Cool Video: Why I Love the Addams Family!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So this is sweet! YouTuber Scaredy Matt (a.k.a. Thought Slime), on his horror-focused channel "Scaredy Cats", talks about why he loves THE ADDAMS FAMILY so much in his most recent video. To him, not only are they fun and kooky characters, but they also represent the ideals of being understanding and loving – the way Morticia and Gomez love each other and their kids – as well as a metaphor for how those who are considered the "Other" often get hounded by the dominating culture to assimilate, and the Addams' courageous message of refusing to do so.

As someone who grew up loving the Addams family – for many of the same reasons as Matt – this video really resonated with me. When I was five, my first crush was Christina Ricci as Wednesday in the first ADDAMS FAMILY movie, and I've also always loved that – despite their dark and Goth-y exteriors – they were always loving and understanding of everyone, friends and outsiders alike.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Fans of THE ADDAMS FAMILY? If so, what's your favorite iteration? Either way, sound off below!
