Cool Videos: Every on-screen death in the Star Wars original trilogy

STAR WARS is a movie that we often show to children because it is a swashbuckling classic full of heroes and villains, action and comedy, and all sorts of other good things that we look for in an appropriate film. But, my god, there is so much death in STAR WARS. In fact, we probably all overlook just how many people died in the Original Trilogy aside from the main characters we cared so much about.

Digg compiled a supercut of every on-screen death in STAR WARS, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, and RETURN OF THE JEDI and present them in chronological order. The resulting tally is pretty staggering. I mean, even if you take out the people killed on the Death Star and Alderaan, the number is very high. For haters of the prequels, at least they didn’t murder as many people as the classic films did.
