You guys remember the last update we gave you on Warner Brothers’ ALL YOU NEED IS KILL adaptation? That shite came back in August and had Doug Liman officially signing on to direct this thing. Well if today’s news holds true we might just have a leading man all lined up!
Apparently the film’s lead role of ‘Private Billy Cage’ has been offered to the talented Ryan Gosling, though this has yet to be even remotely confirmed.
The story of ALL I NEED IS KILL is told from the first person point of view of the protagonist Keiji Kiriya. Keiji is a new recruit in the United Defense Force, fighting against the mysterious creatures called ‘Mimics’ which have laid siege to Earth. Keiji is killed on his first sortie, but through some inexplicable phenomenon wakes up having returned to the day before the battle, only to find himself caught in a time loop as his death and resurrection repeats time and time again. Keiji’s skills as a soldier grows as he passes through the time loops trying to change his fate.
Now regardless of Gosling being a favortie among the female population the man does have an impressive amount of talent so I would definitely be up for seeing him tackle a genre role like this.
