The film could be about anything at this point and it would be watchable. Well, it’s actually based on the play, The Talking Cure by Christopher Hampton. Cure is about the time when Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud were still friendly, then inevitably split up because of the hot, intriguing chick, Sabine. Here’s a more accurate synopsis:
A beautiful young woman, driven mad by her past. An ambitious doctor on a mission to succeed. An esteemed mentor with a revolutionary cure. Let the mind games begin…
Obviously Knightly will play Sabine. I’m going to give it a whirl and say that Waltz is Freud and Fassbender takes on Jung. Cronenberg has been working on putting this together since 2007, so it’s good to see a big update on this. Let the sexy side of psychiatry commence.
