Crystal Lake stars William Catlett and Devin Kessler tell us how Linda Cardellini set the tone on set

After waiting 17 years for new Friday the 13th (I’m sorry but Sweet Revenge doesn’t count), we’ve finally received a new version with Crystal Lake. As most know by now, it expands upon the story of Pamela Voorhees (Linda Cardellini) as we get a little more insight into what happened when her son Jason drowned in that lake. Or did he? But we aren’t just getting to know more about Pam and Jason, we’re getting insight into the entire town in a way we’ve never seen before. As a lifelong Friday the 13th fan, I have very complicated feelings about this series, so go check out Cody Hamman’s very positive review HERE.

I was able to talk to stars William Catlett and Devin Kessler, who I firmly believe are the best aspects of Crystal Lake. Catlett’s Levon, in particular, gives us the sort of dimensional cop that we’ve never quite seen in a Friday the 13th before. They talk about how Linda Cardellini set the tone for the rest of the cast with her professionalism. Devin also gets into what it was like to go from a show set in the 60s with Godfather of Harlem to one now set in the 70s. This is a great talk, and you can tell these two really get along. I also have a fun little misunderstanding with William about him being scared of horror movies as a kid. You can check out the full conversation in the embedded video above.

Crystal Lake plot:

A prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise, the series follows single mother Pam Voorhees who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events is set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?

All 8 episodes of Crystal Lake are Now Streaming on Peacock.
