Cubs finally win the World Series, and now they’re gonna make a film of it

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

When you combine a supposed curse, a losing streak that spans over a century, and the winning hit made by the oldest player to homer in a Game 7 of the World Series (after being down by two points), you got a story made for cinema, son. Now, I don't give a shit about baseball (or any sport, really), but I definitely can get into sports movies. Like boxing bores the shit out of me, but just hearing the ROCKY theme gets my blood pumping. So the idea of making a movie about the Cubs finally winning the World Series seems like it could right up my alley.

The film itself will be based on recently retired catcher David Rossbook's autobiography TEAMMATE: MY JOURNEY IN BASEBALL AND A WORLD SERIES FOR THE AGES (the film's title will be shortened to TEAMMATE: MY LIFE IN BASEBALL). The book (and film) will focus on Ross' 15-year career, and the Cubs' hope to win the World Series for their "emotional leader", whom they nicknamed "Grandpa Rossy."

Like I said, this all sounds delightful. As Ross himself put it:

It was said all during the 2016 season that if you made a movie about the magical run with all its amazing subplots, no one would believe it. Guess what? Believe it!

So any Cubs fans out there? Or are there some bitter baseball fans who lost money the game? Either way, sound off below!

No release date as of yet, but we'll keep you posted on any new developments.
