Dakota Fanning sets out on a Star Trek road trip in Please Stand By trailer

To Wendy (Dakota Fanning), a young woman with autism, the world is a confusing place and people are an indecipherable code, but all she wants is the chance to be accepted just like everybody else. Inspired by her caretaker Scottie (Toni Collette), Wendy escapes from her care home and embarks on the road-trip of a lifetime in order to deliver her 500-page Star Trek script, in which Spock travels to Deep Space Nine, to a Hollywood competition, all with Scottie and her big sister Audrey (Alice Eve) in hot pursuit.

I'll admit to my interest being piqued by the Star Trek connection, but the trailer didn't do a whole lot for me despite the talented cast of Dakota Fanning, Toni Collette, Alice Eve, Patton Oswalt, and Tony Revolori. Even so, the film could easily surprise me with a heart-warming adventure. PLEASE STAND BY will hit theaters on January 26, 2918.
