Damien Leone is writing Terrifier 3 and developing a project with Sam Raimi

Terrifier franchise writer/director Damien Leone is currently writing Terrifier 3 and developing a project for Sam Raimi to produce

Shortly before the release of Terrifier 2, franchise writer/director Damien Leone confirmed that he already had the structure of Terrifier 3 worked out. So now that Terrifier 2 has been released and the independent production turned out to be very successful at the box office, it’s no surprise to hear that Leone is already hard at work on the script for Terrifier 3. And during an interview with Insider, Leone not only said that there might be enough story left to tell for a Terrifier 4 to be in our future, but also mentioned that he’s developing a project for the legendary Sam Raimi!

On the subject of Terrifier 3 (and possibly Terrifier 4), Leone said: “I am writing Terrifier 3 as we speak. I definitely want to make at least one more. There may be two to tell this story and tackle all the ideas that I have in my head. Because there’s a lot more to explore with Art the Clown, the pale girl, Victoria, and certainly Sienna as our final girl. We will be following her journey to the end of this franchise.

As for the insanity that Terrifier 2 brought to the screen, Leone explained: “There’s blatant religious mythic imagery, clear as day. There is a heaven and hell thing going on. And the clown is this resurrected demon and Sienna is slowly becoming aware that she’s sort of this Old Testament angel ready to do battle and going through that metamorphosis. That discovery was really what was the most exciting thing to me in this movie.

Once they were past the Terrifier talk, Leone revealed, “There is an original project I have in development with Ghost House Pictures, which is Sam Raimi’s production company. So if that happens, that would be amazing. I’m really hoping that that could happen before Terrifier 3, or it might happen right after, we’ll see.

Leone also said that he and Raimi were able to have a 45 minute conversation, during which he told Raimi how much he loves Evil Dead II and Raimi was the “sweetest, coolest guy” to talk to.

I’m glad to hear that Terrifier fans are going to be able to see at least one more Art the Clown movie, possibly two. Personally, I’m even more excited to see what the project Leone is developing for Raimi to produce is going to be.
