Damned to DVD

Fox Home Entertainment announced earlier the release of Maury Dexter’s 1963 flick HOUSE OF THE DAMNED for September 5th at the bargain price of $14.98. The film tells the tale of your typical perfect romantic getaway that turns into a hellish nightmare for architect Scott Campbell (Ron Foster) and his wife Nancy (Merry Anders). Joined by another couple, Joseph and Loy Schiller (Richard Crane and Erika Peters), the quartet prepare to enjoy a pleasant stay at an empty castle set on a secluded California hillside. However, tension mounts as a group of ghoulish circus performers who once inhabited the castle become increasingly hostile towards their ‘guests,’ turning their mini-vacation into a life-and-death challenge of wits.

Sporting the ‘almighty’ flipper disc, the DVD will have both the film’s original 2.35:1 aspect ratio on one side and the pan & scan version on the other, along with Dolby 2.0 Stereo and 2.0 Mono audio tracks in English and optional French and Spanish subtitles. Unfortunately, no extras have been announced so far, which would be a waste of space if they didn’t put any on the disc. I mean, it’s already a friggin’ flipper disc, so how lazy can you get?
