As part of his ongoing effort to distance himself from the role of Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe has taken a series of unique roles in very different films. First, THE WOMAN IN BLACK showed he could be looked at like an adult and not a child actor. Next we have KILL YOUR DARLINGS, the true story of writers Allan Ginsburg and William S. Burroughs. The trailer begins like an upbeat look at young men partying in the 1940s with drugs, alcohol, and sex. But, right around the halfway point, the trailer turns dark.

In this dynamic portrait of the early days of the Beat Generation, a young Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe) and William S. Burroughs (Ben Foster) become embroiled in the notorious 1944 murder of Burroughs’ childhood friend David Kammerer by the object of his affection, the Rimbaudian Beat muse Lucien Carr.

KILL YOUR DARLINGS looks to be a very well directed film from John Krokidas with great performances from Radcliffe, Dane DeHaan, and Ben Foster. It doesn't seem like Radcliffe will be content until he has tried every type of role out there. More power to him as he is showing himself to be a stronger and more adept performer with each new film.

KILL YOUR DARLINGS stars Daniel Radcliffe, Dane DeHaan, Jack Huston, Michael C. Hall, Ben Foster, David Cross, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Elizabeth Olsen, Kyra Sedgwick and John Cullum. It opens in theaters on October 18th.
