We’re about to serve this lazy Friday some wake up juice with news that Danny Boyle and Michael B. Jordan are joining forces for a feature film of potentially Biblical proportions titled METHUSELAH.

Boyle will direct with Jordan in line to star. Simon Beaufoy, who worked alongside Boyle for the director’s SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE and 127 HOURS is being considered to rewrite the script. Originally, the concept for the film focused on the Biblical story of a man who lived to be 969 years old. However, sources close the project are saying that story priorities have changed, and that a new take on the plot is now under construction.

For a time, Warner Bros. had wanted Tom Cruise to star in the film, seeing the project as a high priority with franchise potential. That said, the studio has been thrilled with Jordan’s bankability with regard to the CREED franchise, and are now looking to move him to the front of Boyle’s latest endeavor.

In addition to playing the lead role, Jordan will also produce with Outlier Society head of production Alana Mayo, as well as Boyle and Heygey’s David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford. Tony Gilroy wrote the previous draft of the screenplay, which was based on a treatment penned by James Watkins.

Jordan’s is one of the hottest tickets in town these days, after delivering rock-solid performances in films like CREED, Marvel’s BLACK PANTHER, and director Destin Daniel Cretton’s biographical drama JUST MERCY. In recent times, Jordan completed work on Stefano Sollima‘s WITHOUT REMORSE, a film that revolves around John Clark, a Navy Seal who goes on a path to avenge his wife’s murder only to find himself inside of a larger conspiracy. Jordan will star as John Clark for the project, and will be joined by stars Cam Gigandet and Jamie Bell, among others.

We’ll be sure to keep you up to date concerning METHUSELAH, as any time that Boyle announces a project, it’s worth taking note and then some.
