That’s right folks, coming right out of left field it seems David R. Ellis is in talks to direct WAR MONKEYS, which we last told you about over a year ago. At that time we thought Kyle Newman would be directing the Kevin Munroe produced feature but alas, that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore!
Buried deep within a random Variety article about Hilary Swank joining the war flick DREAMS OF A DYING HEART is the news that Ellis is currently in talks to direct the horror/comedy. Want a refresher on what this bad boy’s all about?
Set during a Christmas holiday, WAR MONKEYS follows two janitors who get trapped in an underground research facility after accidentally unleashing military-trained Rhesus monkeys.
Sounds like fun to me! The film will combine a mixture of real monkeys, animatronic puppets and CGI for it’s titular creatures. Sammo Hung has been the only named mentioned regarding the cast, though last we heard the actor was only in talks to star. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything on WAR MONKEYS so hopefully we get some more solid details soon! As always, be sure to keep it here for more as we hear it.
