Back at the beginning of February we learned that THE FINAL DESTINATION director David R. Ellis would be tackling a flick called BAD LUCK. But you see it seems Mr. Ellis has his eyes set on another project before that one, and much like BAD LUCK and THE FINAL DESINATION this film will also be in 3D!
So what am I getting at here? Well according to Deadline New York David R. Ellis has just signed on to direct SHARK NIGHT 3D. Do I really need to tell you what this is about? No, I didn’t think so. There’s no solid details yet anyway but one can assume SHARK NIGHT 3D will follow a bunch of attractive co-eds as they’re terrorized by sharks… in 3D! Hell it sounds like a fun time at the movies, right? Ellis is always good for that at least!
We do have some details as to who is working on the film though. Ellis (above) will be directing a script from Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes with Mike Fleiss, Chris Briggs and Lynette Howell producing. Fleiss and Briggs had previosuly teamed to produce flicks like HOSTEL and THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE… so there’s that. As for Ellis, he’s actually worked as second unit director on flicks like THE PERFECT STORM and DEEP BLUE SEA. So what do you say? These guys experienced enough to bring us a horrific shark adventure in 3D?
We also learn that Walt Conti will be creating the animatronic sharks for SHARK NIGHT 3D. Having previously created animatronics for DEEP BLUE SEA, ANACONDA and FREE WILLY I’d say the man knows what he’s doing. Shooting on SHARK NIGHT 3D is scheduled to start this Summer in Louisiana with plans being to shop the flick around at next month’s Cannes Film Festival.
