Another day in Hollywood, another day of release date shuffles. Today word on the street is that the vampire epic DAYBREAKERS, starring Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, and Sam Neill, has yet another release date to update your calendars with… and I’m afraid to say it’s not a switcheroo in the right direction.
Originally slated to hit theaters September 11, 2009, DAYBREAKERS has been pushed back a few months to its new release date, January 8, 2010!
It’s generally not a good sign when a movie is pushed back 4 months, especially when it’s knocked back to January, the dreaded ‘dump month.’ Then again, the curse of January seems to have temporarily lifted, as this past January gave us great horror hits like MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D and THE UNBORN, both of which made hella bank at the B.O….so maybe it’s the right move on Lionsgate’s part to push it way back?
As a refresher, DAYBREAKERS goes a little something like this: In the year 2017, a plague has transformed most every human into vampires. Faced with a dwindling blood supply, the fractured dominant race plots their survival; meanwhile, a researcher works with a covert band of vamps on a way to save humankind.
Watch for DAYBREAKERS in theaters everywhere January 8, 2010!
