Now here’s an ideal idea for a zombie humor/horror—the workplace! What better setting for lumbering, undead drones than the confines of mind-numbing office cubicles! Such is the case for director Mathew Chung’s OFFICE OF THE DEAD. Fango scored some pics (above and below) from the brain-munching, TPS-report-faxing romp. Here’s your shot of the plot:
The story revolves around the plight of software engineer Ben Lau (Edward Chen Culver), who attempts to save his fellow Life Corp. employees from a zombie outbreak—for which he’s partially responsible. Seems the company’s been researching a way in which to make unhappy people happy, but Ben’s final experiment, carried out with fellow engineer Raj (Shawn Parikh) and project manager/ex-girlfriend Liz (Christina July Kim) goes awry, rendering their test subject a flesh-eating ghoul.
It’s not long before the situation degenerates into a company-wide undead epidemic. Ben sets out to reverse the infection, and along the way (in addition to dealing with his brain-dead co-workers) reignites his romantic relationship with Liz.
It definitely shows some shades of SHAUN OF THE DEAD, but there’s no denying the strong promise of that premise. OFFICE is currently in postproduction with Chung hoping to score an eventual theatrical release. You can check out the flick’s official site here where a trailer is expected sometime in August. The rest of the cast includes Robbie Daymond, Don Jeans, Amelia Meyers, Jani Bloom, David Goldman, Natasha Nova and Wayne Robbins.
