Deadpool 3 is confirmed to be rated R and part of the MCU!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So this is exciting! Collider recently conducted an interview with the Marvel Cinematic Universe head honcho Kevin Feige – ostensibly about the upcoming Disney+ show, WandaVision – when the super producer dropped this enticing tidbit about the future of Ryan Reynolds' iconic and irreverent Marvel antihero Deadpool, post Disney acquisition (as the Deadpool films were originally developed under Fox), as well what rating the film would have, and where the character would fit into the larger MCU milieu.

Here's the pertinent quote:

It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.

So this is awesome, in my opinion. I love Deadpool and especially the Deadpool films (for, as jokey and satirical they get, there was always a real heart at the center of them), so I think this is a perfect merger or sensibilities (especially since Deadpool's clashing style and humor – which constrasts with the more serious and straight laced mainstream heroes – is where most of the humor in the comics came from anyway). I'm also wondering if somehow the multiverse will play into him joining the MCU? Only time will tell, I suppose.

But what do you guys think? Fans of the Deadpool films? If so, looking forward to seeing him rib the official MCU heroes? Either way, sound off below!
