When Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman announced they’d take their bromance to the next level in Deadpool 3, superhero cinema fans lost their minds. I remember it like it was yesterday. The excited shouts were deafening, especially for us here in Canada. While we wait for production to begin, I’ll enjoy my BeaverTails and Hickory Sticks and bask in the latest update about the film. Speaking with ET Canada, Reynolds revealed how the heroes from the Great White North joined forces.

“It’s been fun,” Reynolds told the outlet. “He and I are both really excited. We’ve wanted to do this for a decade. So, to have this opportunity now is, I think actually weirdly, the perfect time.”

Regarding what it took for Jackman to pop his claws again for what I hope is a buddy action film of epic proportion, Reynolds said, “I mean, I never stopped. I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I actually just think… I believe in timing … and I think he was ready.”

Reynolds continued, “I think he was excited and what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.”

Emma Corrin (The CrownLady Chatterly’s Lover), Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), Karan Soni (Brooklyn Nine-NineDeadpool), Leslie Uggams (DeadpoolRoots), Morena Baccarin (HomelandGreenland), Stefan Kapicic (An Almost Ordinary StoryDeadpool 2) join Reynolds and Jackman for the super-powered threequel.

Shawn Levy will be entering the franchise with this entry as the director. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will write the screenplay, who will work from a previous draft by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin. Also, this being the first Marvel Cinematic Universe incarnation of Deadpool, Kevin Feige will join the project as a producer along with Reynolds and Levy.

How do you think Logan and Wade will cross paths at the start of Deadpool 3? We’ll find out when the film opens in theaters on November 8, 2024.
