Brad Dourif as a psycho who runs a cremation business… For some reason, I have no trouble picturing this.
Dourif’s latest maniacal character will be seen in DEATH AND CREMATION, a dark and twisted thriller that’s been floating around for a few years now. It’s now ready to spring from its grave and into your homes, as Green Apple Entertainment will distribute the Justin Steele-directed film in April.
The synopsis:
Stan (Dourif) is a 59-year-old recluse who
offers cremation services from the basement of his funeral home … though he doesn’t
seem much interested in promoting his business. In fact, he’s a deranged sociopath who
eliminates anyone he perceives to be a bully.
Jarod (Jeremy Sumpter, TV’s Friday Night Lights, P.J. Hogan’s Peter Pan, Frailty) is a
fatherless, 17-year-old high school outcast who no longer even attempts to fit in at school.
Things aren’t much better at home with mom’s abusive boyfriend (Daniel Baldwin).
When Stan takes the beleaguered teen under his wing, they soon develop a demented
friendship. But the neophyte makes mistakes and – as detective Fairchild (Scott Elrod) struggles to pull together clues from local disappearances – Stan must decide if protecting his newfound protégé is worth killing for …
DEATH AND CREMATION doesn’t sound bad, and the promo trailer that hit back in 2010 is pretty decent. Sure enough, our man Jake Dee seemed to dig it, more or less, so perhaps it’s worth laying our eyeballs on. It hits DVD on APRIL 24th; pre-order this badboy right HERE.
