Declan O’Brien to helm Joy Ride 3

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has found someone to take a seat in the director's chair for JOY RIDE 3. Declan O’Brien, who's no stranger to the world of horror as he's been behind the camera for WRONG TURN 3, 4, and 5, will now tackle JOY RIDE 3, the latest sequel that spawned from the 2001 film starring Steve Zahn and Paul Walker, and was written by J.J. Abrams. If you're a fan of the franchise then it sounds like you're going to have a lot to look forward to with the third installment. "You're going to get a whole new platter of different and inventive kills," says the director. "All of the new kills are automotive related, and I guarantee some of them – hell all of them – you've never seen on film before!" Sounds like there's going to be a wicked case of road rash in this one — I'm in!

There's no word on the casting for the film just yet but we do have a synopsis for you guys to dig on. Check it:

Rusty Nail is back on the road again looking to punish injustice at every turn — and this time it’s with a group of hothead twenty-somethings on their way to the Road Rally 1000. As they drive through a desolate shortcut on the way to the race, an encounter with Rusty turns sour, and soon he is tracking, teasing, and torturing them until the end of the road.
