Denis Leary revealed a bizarre potential plot for The Amazing Spider-man 3

There is a lot of hate for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN franchise. In fact, despite Sony developing a whole interconnected universe, the plan fell apart. Now, we are seeing Spider-man integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and getting his third reboot of the decade. Still, it begs the question of just where the series was going to head after THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.

IGN was interviewing Denis Leary regarding his upcoming FX series Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll when he revealed there had been discussions for him to return for the now aborted third film in the series.

“There was this idea, at one point, that Spider-Man would be able to take this formula and regenerate the people in his life that died. So there was this discussion that Captain Stacy would come back even bigger in episode three.”

Um, what? As someone who has defended both of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN movies, even I have to say that sounds like a dumb f*cking idea. Everyone knows the Clone Saga is one of the most reviled chapters in Spider-man history and the idea of bringing the dead back to life doesn't sound all that much better. The fact that Gwen Stacy and Uncle Ben are dead is what gives Peter Parker more impetus to be a hero. Bringing them back completely undermines that. Why he would bring back Captain Stacy to find out his daughter is dead, I have no idea. That is unless he was going to be a villain. Again, dumb idea.

The reboot of SPIDER-MAN hits theaters on July 28, 2017.
