Being a huge fan of Stephen King, I’m proud to report that his latest adaptation, DESPERATION, has just been cast and will start filming this Halloween. Fangoria got news from director Mick Garris (RIDING THE BULLET, THE STAND, THE SHINING) that the three hour TV movie for ABC has Ron Pearlman (HELLBOY) leading the cast, along with Steve Weber (THE SHINING), Annabeh Gish (THE X FILES), Cliff Robertson (RIDING THE BULLET), Shane Habousch, and Matt Frewer (THE STAND). It’s nice to see some King alumnus here, and the idea of Pearlman as the villainous lawman Collie Entragian makes it that much more exciting.
Although I’m a huge fan of the book, I’d be even more excited if they were making it’s sequel and counterpart, THE REGULATORS. Now that would have me jumping up and down, setting the timer on my VCR to record a year in advance! Maybe they thought that project would be too big, or they wanted to test the grounds with this one first- either way, I’m stoked they decided to go with this story- t’s definately one of King’s best. His latest adaptation, RIDING THE BULLET, is in theaters now.
