Devil Inside: Caitlin Stasey, Lou Taylor Pucci, Ryan Kwanten star in virus horror film

Fresh off playing a pivotal role in the horror film Smile (watch it HERE), which earned over $200 million at the global box office, Caitlin Stasey has signed on to play the lead in the horror thriller Devil Inside. Stasey is joined in the cast by Lou Taylor Pucci (Evil Dead 2013) and Ryan Kwanten (Glorious). Devil Inside is currently in pre-production, and is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2023.

Directed by Jonathan auf Der Heide (Van Diemen’s Land), who also wrote the screenplay with Tom Holloway, Devil Inside is described as being in the vein of 28 Days Later and It Comes at Night – and Variety even used the dreaded “elevated” label when covering the movie, saying it’s “pitched as an elevated genre film”.

Elevated or not, the movie will see Stasey taking on the role of Eva, a young virologist, who helps the local park ranger (Kwanten) research the Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumor Disease – a contagious cancer that has wiped out nearly 90% of the species population. But when her husband, Alex (Pucci), is bitten by a sickly stray dog, Eva suspects the virus has mutated across species and is causing violent outbursts in the hosts. Infection soon spreads through the locals and Eva must choose between saving the man she loves or the rest of humanity.

David Ngo and Erin Williams-Weir of Projector Films are producing Devil Inside. Michael Favelle of Odin’s Eye Entertainment is executive producing with Katie Found, Bryce Menzies, and Clement Dunn.
