Genre icon Tony Todd – whose credits include Candyman and Night of the Living Dead (1990) – stars in the upcoming horror movie Devilreaux, which will be receiving a theatrical, digital, and VOD release on June 9th, courtesy of Lionsgate. With that date right around the corner, the folks at Screen Rant got the exclusive first look at the trailer for Devilreaux, and you can now check it out in the embed above.
The trailer wisely puts a spotlight on Todd’s scenes in the movie, showing him giving intense line delivery and striking down his enemies.
Written and directed by Thomas J. Churchill, Devilreaux tells the story of a young female police officer who begins investigating the eponymous ghost story after a group of young adults awaken the vengeful spirit from the past who takes his anger out on his victims with a sharp, bloody shovel.
Todd is joined in the cast by Vincent M. Ward (The Walking Dead), Jon Briddell (Doom Patrol), Meghan Carrasquillo (Hider in My House), and Jackie Quinones (Tough Guy).
I’m a big fan of slasher movies, and judging by the trailer for Devilreaux it looks like this could turn out to be an entertaining slasher. So I might give a chance when it’s released next month. I wouldn’t head out to see it on the big screen, but at home on digital or VOD for sure.

Thomas J. Churchill has previously directed the horror films Emerging Past, The Day of the Living Dead, The Amityville Harvest, Big Freaking Rat, The Amityville Moon, and Amityville Uprising, as well as the action films A System Devoured, Check Point, and Nation’s Fire, the thriller The Step Daddy, the family films The Rack Pack and The Business of Christmas, and the drama The Godfather Buck. He also contributed to the sci-fi anthology Xenophobia. Even though that’s a long list of credits, I can’t say I have seen any of those movies. So Devilreaux will be my first Churchill viewing.
