Devil’s family pic

I’m predicting that Ti West’s THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL (which Jared last wrote on here) is going to be a very welcome addition to the branch of horror centered around Satan. I’ll tell you why I’m now even more excited about this flick, but first, refresh yourself with the plot: In the late 1980s, college student Samantha takes a strange babysitting job that coincides with a full lunar eclipse. She slowly realizes her clients harbor a terrifying secret; they plan to use her in a satanic ritual.

Now, my newest reason for wanting to catch this DEVIL: That Pic Above! It’s the latest image released from Glassy Eye Pix and it’s a “family photo” (of the clients in the plot description as well as their babysitter) with the additon of writer/director Ti West in the middle. That’s some cool shit! I’m seriously digging that old, newspaper-clipping look of it. It really does remind me of old-school horror like AMITYVILLE and THE OMEN, especially with that huge house in the background. Plus, that’s one creepy looking family! Tom Noonan rules with his Lurch-like features! The whole image just shows to me that the filmmakers are looking to bring us something creative, which points to HOUSE ending up a devil of a good movie.

The rest of the cast includes Dee Wallace, Mary Woronov, Greta Gerwig, Mary B. McCann, Jocelin Donahue, AJ Bowen, John Speredakos, and Heather Robb. As for now, DEVIL is set to release some time in 2009.
