Dexter limited series revival starring Michael C. Hall ordered at Showtime

After an eight season run, the Showtime series Dexter came to an end back in 2013… but as it turns out, that wasn't really the end. Dexter is set to return, with Showtime ordering a 10-episode limited series revival that will see Michael C. Hall reprising the title role. Clyde Phillips, who served as showrunner on the first four seasons of Dexter, is overseeing this

continuation of the original, eight-season series, which ended in 2013 with Hall's Dexter Morgan going on self-imposed exile as a lumberjack and living a solitary life.

These new episodes of Dexter will begin filming early next year, with Showtime planning to get them on the air in the fall of 2021.

Showtime Entertainment president Gary Levine had this to say about the revival:

Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago. We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can't wait to shoot it and show it to the world."

Phillips and Hall will be executive producing the revival with John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, and Scott Reynolds.

Since I tend to watch movies instead of TV, I have missed out on some of the biggest shows of the last few decades, and I have to admit that I have never seen an episode of Dexter. I have always been interested in checking it out, though. Maybe I'll be able to catch up on the existing eight seasons before this revival reaches the air.
