Well FRIDAY THE 13TH is almost upon us… but it seems Platinum Dunes aren’t even waiting for the Jason Voorhees smoke to clear before they move onto A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET!
It’s no secret the producing camp are jumping straight from Crystal Lake to Elm Street, but up until now we’ve been waiting for the word on who exactly will be directing the NIGHTMARE reboot. Well according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Risky Business Blog… we have a director!
Who will be reimagining one of the greatest horror slashers of all time? Why Samuel Bayer of course! Wait… who? Sam Bayer, the guy has directed a number of music videos. Including Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit.’ You’re still asking yourself who Sam Bayer is aren’t you? Don’t worry… you’re not alone.
Now apparently Bayer is a huge name sought after in Hollywood. The director has been approached many times for various projects… so why A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET? Hopefully we get some answers soon. Now Bayer and Platinum Dunes aren’t only teaming for NIGHTMARE… they’ll also be making FIASCO HEIGHTS, a thriller for Universal that Bayer will also direct.
You know… this news really doesn’t bother me. Frankly… I’m not looking forward to this at all. I don’t hate it, I don’t love it. I’ll let it be and check out the finished product. Word is the reboot will ‘feature a strong element of the first picture, in which Krueger famously began haunting teenagers’ dreams, attacking them violently in their subconscious in ways that resulted in their real-life deaths.
