Sounds like we’re about to get the TWILIGHT of alien invasion movies…

The Heat Vision Blog has announced that director D.J. Caruso (DISTURBIA, EAGLE EYE) has signed on to direct I AM NUMBER FOUR, a Dreamworks production and adaptation of the upcoming “young adult novel” of the same name.

Sounding like a combo of “Roswell” and I COME IN PEACE, the story concerns a group of nine aliens who escape their home planet just before it is annihilated by a rival species. Hiding out on Earth, the title character disguises himself as a human high schooler, only to discover he is being hunted still by his planet’s enemy.

Does anyone doubt that “Number Four” will fall in love with a fetching high schooler who will be amazed by his abnormal gifts and his brooding stare?

“Smallville” creators Al Gough and Miles Millar wrote the screenplay. The book was actually purchased back in June, with Michael Bay tentatively attached. It should also be noted that the book was co-written by James Frey, the guy who pissed off Oprah something fierce when he admitted to lying about his memoir “A Million Little Pieces”.
